GMC Denali E85 Two-Mode Hybrid Concept


December 31st, 1969 GM has taken the wraps off a new concept vehicle based on its GMC Denali line, which officials claim previews a possible future design direction for all GMC models. The pickup concept combines both GM’s two-mode hybrid system and an E85 4.9L V8 engine, and it rides on a height-adjustable suspension system and 23in wheels shod with Kuhmo tires. The powertrain is said to offer a 50% increase in fuel-economy over comparable small pickup trucks when running on petrol. In addition to the hybrid system, the concept powertrain also features direct-injection and active-fuel management technologies. At low speeds the vehicle drives on electric power alone. The new V8 4.9L E85-capable engine powers the Denali XT with an estimated 326hp (243kW). The concept was actually designed and constructed by Holden Design in Australia, and is just the first of two new concepts from the Aussie division. The second concept will be a new crew-cab version of the VE Commodore Ute, which is set to appear at April’s New York Auto Show.   2. Ok the Ridgeline has not been that popular that Toyota & now GM had to come out w/ their own versions.

  3. That's a lot of technology for a pickup truck.
    One of the reasons current pickup trucks are so reliable is that they are so simple, kind of like a basic farm or construction tool.
