Gumpert prepping two Apollo supercars for Geneva

The Gumpert Apollo has remained relatively unchanged since its launch back in 2005, but considering only 31 cars have been produced since then we can understand why. Despite the lack of updates the car will once again be on display at the Geneva Motor Show, with officials planning to show off two new all-black versions.

Like all Apollos, the new cars feature a 650hp (485kW) twin-turbo 4.2L Audi V8, tubular Chromoly frame and a six-speed sequential gearbox. This allows the Apollo to accelerate from 0-62mph in a flat 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 224mph.

Despite the brand’s lack of international recognition, Gumpert has opened a number of new distribution centers around Europe and the Middle-East. Next year officials hope to sell 40 cars, each at a starting price of €260,000, and eventually Gumpert could be launched in new markets including the U.S. and Asia.

To save costs on its display Gumpert will be showcasing its pair of Apollos alongside the YES! Roadster, which earlier this month was reported to be starting sales in the U.S. for the first time.
