Brabus prepped Mercedes-McLaren SLR Roadster
December 31st, 1969
The new Audi Q7 Coastline won’t be the only maritime-inspired vehicle at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. German tuner Brabus has followed the boating theme by dressing the Mercedes-McLaren SLR Roadster with a new pearl-white paint job along with an aerodynamics update, engine tuning and custom-tailored 20in wheel and tire package.
The list of modifications includes a new front spoiler attached to the stock bumper, which reduces lift on the front axle and gives the car a more aggressive look. Optimized in a wind tunnel, the new spoiler is made from exposed carbon fiber and is both light and robust. The rear apron, meanwhile, is upgraded with a Brabus diffuser also made from exposed carbon fiber. Completing the look is a set of 20in ‘Platinum Edition’ three-piece alloy wheels wrapped in either Pirelli or Yokohama. Thanks to the new design, which features a forged aluminum rim and a billet aluminum center, the bigger 20in wheels are lighter than the 19in turbine-design factory-spec wheels.
Under the bonnet is the familiar 5.5L supercharged V8 but with the addition of and a fuel-cooling system. Power output increases by 24hp (18kW) to 650hp (478kW) at 6,500rpm. The tuner also offers a special clutch-type limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent for the SLR. This optimizes traction and improves acceleration times for the 0-100km/h (62mph), which now takes just 3.6 seconds. Top speed is an unlimited 337km/h (211mph).
Inside, the car gets red leather and black Alcantara trim, a new sports steering wheel with perforated leather and small buttons used for switching gears. The price of the new package including the car starts at €699,000.Brabus Mercedes-McLaren SLR Roadster

Too "pimp my ride" for my taste.
But I guess money doesn't really buy taste... :)
What I've never understood are the cars with the paper thin tires and no room between them and the wheel arches. A car like this could be easily outrun by a Honda Fit when the first speed bump or have to go up a driveway...

they have replaced the 2 parts of this car that i loved on the original ..
1. The rakes along the sides of the car...it now looks like the the door is from another car
2. the awesome rims. I would love ot get my hands on those rims that resembled Turbines...the design was spectacular....these new ones look like redone M3 wheels
all in all a poor effort from Brabus.
Can i just say though, the sound the SLR makes is absolutely beautiful. If i only had the money i would buy one !! but a hardtop not the convertable...
