Pininfarina joins European Automotive Hall of Fame


December 31st, 1969 Last week’s Geneva Motor Show saw Italian engineer and design legend Sergio Pininfarina inducted into the European Automotive Hall of Fame for his contribution to the auto industry. Pininfarina has been the acting chairman of the Carrozzeria Pininfarina design studio since his father, Battista Farina, passed away in 1966. Some of the cars created under Sergio Pininfarina’s guidance include the Fiat 124 Spider, Peugeot 406 Coupe and the Ferrari Testarossa. Sergio Pininfarina accepted the award at last week’s event along with his son Andrea Pininfarina and daughter Lorenza Pininfarina. Along with Pininfarina, three other inductees were added to the Automotive News-sponsored Hall of Fame. They include Jacques Calvet, chairman of PSA-Peugeot/Citroen from 1990 until 1997, Dante Giacosa, longtime head of design and engineering at Fiat, and the Opel brothers, the duo behind the German automaker now owned by GM. Last week’s Geneva Motor Show saw Italian engineer and design legend Sergio Pininfarina inducted into the European Automotive Hall of Fame for his contribution to the auto industry. Pininfarina has been the acting chairman of the Carrozzeria Pininfarina design studio since his father, Battista Farina, passed away in 1966.

Some of the cars created under Sergio Pininfarina’s guidance include the Fiat 124 Spider, Peugeot 406 Coupe and the Ferrari Testarossa. Sergio Pininfarina accepted the award at last week’s event along with his son Andrea Pininfarina and daughter Lorenza Pininfarina.
