$200,000 Rolls Royce hood ornament
December 31st, 1969
Destined to be one of the most outrageous and expensive car accessories of all time, a Manhattan luxury dealership has commissioned a one-of-a-kind Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament comprised of diamonds, platinum and other rare metals. The asking price for the jeweled mascot? $200,000 or about half the price of the Rolls Royce Phantom on which it’s attached.
The ornament was designed by local jeweler Jean Kemanjian on behalf of Manhattan Motorcars. Speaking with The Epoch Times, Kemanjian said his latest work was created as a “tribute to the car itself."
It features a paved surface of diamonds, laid out in a similar fashion to bathroom tiles except this is the most expensive surface you can create known to man, Kemanjian explained. "What we did was to add 150 carats of D color VVS1 quality diamonds and some fancy intense yellow diamonds on the wings."
This is the only example of a diamond-studded Spirit of Ecstasy in existence and for now it will remain the property of the dealership that commissioned. However, we suspect there will be a number of interested buyers with bottomless pockets.

It'll look great splattered with flies after a long drives to the upstate mansion.

Exactly! It's hard to tell whether this monstrosity would make a current Roller look better or worse. It will certainly be stolen quickly (Manhatten...).

no point of doing that when its like the smallest think and maybe 2 out of ten people will notice it...not that u want them to notice it in the first place
