The Spec-V will deliver the same output as the upcoming ‘Series II' GT-R but will feature an overboost function
Enlarge PhotoThe Spec-V GT-R is expected to make its debut in Japan on the 8th of January next year priced from ¥15,750,000 - fully optioned it is expected to be listed at ¥16,978,500. This is roughly double the price of the standard GT-R, however models sold in North America will likely be less expensive.
Based on the upcoming ‘Series II’ GT-R, the Spec-V is expected to run the same powertrain as the standard model, which means it will receive the same 5hp upgrade to 478hp (356kW). While many were expecting the car to feature a much more significant power increase, most of the modifications are focused on reducing weight and improving dynamics.
Changes to the car’s mechanicals include the removal of the transmission mode selection button, a new ‘overboost’ function for short bursts of increased midrange boost, carbon-ceramic brakes and an uprated Bilstein Damptronic suspension set-up. Finally, Nissan has installed a new set of 20in forged aluminum wheels by Rays.
To differentiate the Spec-V from the standard GT-R, the new model will feature a carbon-fiber grille, carbon rear wing, and new carbon air ducts in the lower lip spoiler. Customers will also be able to opt for a new ‘Ultimate Black Pearl’ paint scheme, which is described as a purplish black color.
Inside, the car picks up a new carbon-fiber dash surround, a black-only color scheme, chrome highlights, carbon-fiber front seats and a carbon rear shelf to replace the rear seats. Optional extras will include a Thatcham alarm system, Bose premium stereo, and extra sticky Dunlop tires.
No official performance figures or time sheets have been released yet and Nissan is unlikely to publish new Nurburgring times for the car.
Nissan execs, meanwhile, has also confirmed that the GT-R is an unprofitable model but the introduction of vehicles based on the same platform will help change that. One of these could be a new V8-powered sedan for Infiniti.

is it against the rules to say that i would prefer to have my GT-R in red with Balck interior?
this car has redefined what can be done with a car and its performance without having to pay through the roof for it !

This car is just amazing. I read in my May issue of Car and Driver that it [the normal GT-R] does 0-60 MPH in 3.3 seconds. And it only costs around 80,000 before markups. That's pretty damn affordable, I can see myself driving one of these a few years after I graduate from university as an engineer.

Wow, you must be Cooper Union or MIT engineer, as I just graduated as engineer and I don't see myself driving 80K car for at least 5 years, probably way more.

Well, I don't have any gigantic student loans to pay and I'll be living with my family so I won't be paying rent. I'm going to get a job and start paying some of the utility bills. But all in all, with most of my paycheck going right into the bank, I'll have plenty saved up.

so far every review you read about the GT-R says that it's freakn fast but not really fun or lovable. It doesnt excite you the way sports car should. So I hope V-spec will speak more to the senses than the standard ones.
What?! No attempts to take back the 'Ring title from the ZR1? With all the weight reduction and "overboost"(surely meaning'this car has way more power than officially stated') it should be able to beat the 'Vette(plus every other supercar made).
