Video: Heffner 850HP Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder TT
December 31st, 1969
The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder is already one of the most desirable cars on the planet with its stunning good looks and monster of an engine. The owner of this Gallardo Spyder, however, just wasn't happy with the stock 500hp 5.0L V10 so decided to call on Heffner performance to add a couple of turbos into the mix. The result of this is an 850hp Gallardo droptop, which even with an AWD system smokes the tires during launch. The noise the car makes as it first roars away is stunning and is easily more aurally stimulating than the stock Gallardo Spyder. The guys from Jalopnik have unearthed a video of the car in action, which can watch in full after the jump.

how much did he pay for this?
By Gus #2, Posted: 4/9/2008
First, it says 850 rwhp. I thought it was AWD?
Second, to race on public streets is nasty, and if you're going to film a promo for your product, maybe you should rent some track time. He even pulls off some full rip acceleration runs right next to dense traffic at the 4 minute mark. With that much power, if he loses grip, he's into the other cars at huge speeds. I know it sounds like I'm an old fuddy-duddy, but other people shouldn't pay for your mistakes, and seeing that sort of thing is what gives sports cars a bad rep.
Third, what is it with Lamborghini owners and the leather jackets with the word "Lamborghini" written on the sleeve in huge gold script? I mean, why not hang some panties from the mirror?
What an amazing bit of machinery, though. I see this car as a fun way to see the road, I think this guy is just into showing off. Maybe I'm just getting old...

Gus,
I read about this exact car in Car and Driver's recent 0-200-0 MPH shootout. if I remember right, Heffner did indeed change the driveline to RWD from the original AWD setup.

Hmm, then what about this line in the article? :
"which even with an AWD system smokes the tires during launch"
My guess is two tires would never be able to handle that kind of power well. If it is a RWD, then that guy is even more nuts doing it around others...

I'm the owner/driver...*850 RWD RWHP measured by dis-connecting front drive shaftds.
Then they go back on for street operation.
C&D car is a friend of mines . He has permantenly removed front driveshafts (saves 100 lbs)
Motor work $60,000. No panties required..they come easy enough!

BTW motor shot is not of my car. Another TT Gallardo coupe.
No other carrs EVEN CLOSE to being endangered. I'm no kid (63) I've
been driving performance cars for some time. On & OFF track.
and I only put myself at risk
