Rare collection of Ferraris to be auctioned at Maranello factory
December 31st, 1969
One of the biggest collections of past and present Ferraris is set to be sold off next month at a special event at the Maranello factory dubbed the ‘Ferrari: Leggenda e Passione’ auction. Ferrari fans will have the opportunity to buy some of the marque’s rarest and oldest cars – both road-going and racing models – covering nearly 50 years of production.
Some of the highlights of the sale include a pair of rare California Spyders (a 1958 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder - pictured - and a stunning 1961 Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spyder), a 1951 Ferrari 212 Inter Coupe Pinin Farina (a special one-off fitted with a prototype 3.0L 250 type V12 engine), and a 1951 Ferrari 340 America Ghia Coupé with a long racing history.
The 340 America is regarded as one of the rarest of all early racing Ferraris and this example was the last of four 340 Americas bodied by Carrozzeria Ghia.
More modern vehicles include a race-ready 1995 Ferrari 412T2, a 1999 Ferrari 333SP, a pair of F1 race cars raced by Michael Schumacher (a 1997 Ferrari F31OB and a 2000 Ferrari F2000), as well as two Enzos and a special India Tour model 2008 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
To coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Ferrari Daytona, the May event will also offer a 1971 Ferrari GTS/4 Daytona Spyder, a fully restored 1971 Daytona Coupe, and an original 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona with just 2,500 miles on the clock.

Alain de Cadenet hosed a special on HDTV that shows these cars as only Alain can.
Fantastic show. Look for" Ferrari: Legends and Passions" on one of those HD channels.

Boy those old styles were beautiful. Dangerous, but beautiful.
Maybe someday soon they will bring out a top performace Ferrari that looks exactly like one of the classic designs, ala the MB gullwing.

the classic designs are always the best...look at the Corvette. Anyone would rather a Vette Stingray from the 60's than a hunk of junk from the 00's.
give me a classic car anyday and it is my dream to get myself an old car and totally refit it with genuine parts or remoulded parts of the exact same specs...

Wizard- here is the lot list http://www.rmauctions.com/CarList.cfm?SaleCode=FF08 As for wanting one you can have them. No airbags, straight steering columns and sub par brakes! You'd be safer in a Smart car.
But then again a 250 SWB California sure would look good parked in the driveway!

Yeah, give me the car in that picture with completely modern underpinnings...
