Ferrari Concept 2008 inspired by the F430
December 31st, 1969
Ferrari appears to be a source of inspiration for a number of up-and-coming young designers with the likes of Idries Omar, Emre Husmen and now Luca Serafini all using the Italian exotics as inspiration for some of their best works. The latest design, dubbed the Ferrari Concept 2008, is based on the F430 supercar and shows a possible design direction for the next-gen model.
Drawing on inspiration from both past and present Ferrari models, Serafini wanted something that could stand on its own but would always be recognized as a Ferrari. Serafini next plan is to create a one-quarter scale model of the car and hopefully present it at design competitions in Italy’s automotive design hub, Turin.
One of Serafini’s most popular previous works includes the Lamborghini Embolado concept, a compact supercar loosely based on the Gallardo with a unique cab forward design and plenty of aggression.

And people wonder why I bash anything American. Just look at this car, truly stunning. There is absolutely no excuse why the likes of Jays Mays cannot come up with such designs like this on our side of the pond!
These guys would get my money for one thats for sure!!!!!

can anyone else say Aston Martin ??
the front is too big for the design....smaller arches are required...or smaller rims...
By Gus #4, Posted: 5/14/2008
Hold the phone now, that looks a little like they copied the Saleen...

Gus....I actually agree with you, this vehicle's raised front arches & headlamps do resemble the latest Saleen concept - one of my favorites. With that said, this is a beautiful sports car. Leading design departments need to wake up and add spice like this to their GT lines and not let internal penny pinchers take away the fun & flowing lines that we're all ready to pay for if offered. Good luck Luca!

Yep, looking at the Saleen Raptor and this design leaves me with no doubt that some corporate spy ring is involved. It is obvious that a lot of lazy hairy chested Italians simply flipped a coin to determine if they were going to copy the Raptor or the Corvette. Please read the sarcasm. Give me a break. This car, like many others these days all have some design lines or themes that can be seen in another car. It takes a more critical eye to find what is unique about the design instead of simply identifying the obvious.

that rear end is gorgeous

...in stark contrast to the front end.

The Ferrari.... BITCHIN'
The Lamborghini... I don't think so...

MWOW: its a digital concept with no real basis. even americans can do that.
Wizards: concepts are generally "cartoony",... everything is bigger than it should be. That being said I think the wheels (and tires) are just right, and the arches are a little too high.. like gus said, looks like the Raptor. Maybe thats what I like about this so much. A sexier, Italianer Raptor.
Gus, kudos for spotting it.
Turk: I think it differs enough that no one would say it's a copy.. the 430 has this general shape and I believe its the 599 that has those big wheel arches like that. you can also say the inspiration came from that.
Hector; bitchin is right. seriously.. is there a translation into italian for "ass whoopin" or something? the lambo is a little "futuristic" for my taste too. It looks like he's taken the current designs at lambo, stipulated the same engine space, but shortened the wheel base to keep the weight down... so I see it as futuristic. It seems like he's trying to stuff a v10 into a rear engine go kart with a body on it for aerodynamics. Inspired by SMART! the OTHER rear mid engined 2 seater designed for fuel efficiency.

Chris- You took the words right out of my mouth "even Americans can do that". Your right but they dont so the chances of it showing up in a show room become even slimer.
Not sure if you've ever been in a design office but if you do there will be hundreds of drawings just like this which will then lead up to a final design.
Even Picaso practied!!!!

That said, I think the Saleen looks better. Better balanced, not so garish. Just an opininion.
By Turkle #13, Posted: 5/15/2008
Gus, you just summarized over 100 years of Italian car design. It is somewhat "garish" or wraps an extremely functional car in a more "sexy" skin. I put quotes around the two descriptors because style is subjective. I look at the Raptor and I see function over style, similar to the Nissan GT-R. The purpose dictates the style, not the other way around.

the front looks like the saleen raptor, and the back looks gorgeous
By steve #15, Posted: 5/15/2008
That is what aferrari SHOULD look like that is INSANELY good looking!
By Wizards Lore #16, Posted: 5/16/2008
its an Aston..actually ....a rival site has a pic of a future Porsche 928GTS....google image it and you will see...Car and driver i think it is !
By Mike #17, Posted: 5/16/2008
Why didn't Ferarri let this guy design the new "California"? This concept is 100% better looking(!).
By Daf #18, Posted: 6/13/2008
No, no it isn't. Front end doesnt fit the rest of the car, and that lambo looks like a 6 year old tried to draw a gallardo.
The Concept 2008 has the best-looking fender-flares since the 288GTO. Perhaps it could use a slightly smaller and lower nose
grill, though. Could be a worthy successor to the Enzo, and even more incredible if Ferrari were to produce a Spider version.
