Spy Shots: Production-ready Audi TT Clubsport quattro

Spy Shots: Production-ready Audi TT Clubsport quattro

December 31st, 1969 Audi surprised many when it rolled out the TT Clubsport quattro concept at Essen’s Wörthersee tuner show in May of last year, and few would have suspected the radical concept would eventually enter production. Now, exactly 12 months after the debut of the original concept comes new spy shots of a production-ready roofless Audi TT driving outside one of the carmaker’s offices in Germany. The production model features the same chopped windshield and open-top design of the concept, including the missing roof-supports and rear-view mirror. The car does howver have a few unique features of its own. New to the production version is a unique front bumper design with split air-intakes positioned on either side of the apron, a new grille, taller rollover bars and bigger brake lights. The new speedster is yet to be announced by Audi but it is expected to be a limited edition model with the only powertrain option being a 300hp turbocharged 2.0L TFSI – the same unit as the concept car. Audi’s S tronic dual-clutch transmission will likely handle shifting duties, while carbon-ceramic brakes may be an option. As this latest prototype looks almost production ready we could see the new car launched by the end of the year but as mentioned Audi is yet to even confirm its existence. 1. Audi is on a roll.

Everyday on my way to work, I see a R8 drive by. But if this baby actually comes out, I can afford this model at least.

Hopefully it's not a very limited production run.

  2. very nice... but I'm still waiting for an R4 or S1. the only two things that could actually get me into an audi dealer

  3. i hav driven the current TT coupe and it is brilliant to look at and excellent to drive they really are making very gud cars....

  4. This doesn't even make sense. What are you gonna do without a rearview mirror, sun visors, or a roof? Drive only when it's overcast?
Or am I missing something here?

  5. Very, very nice - reminds me of a modern day Karman Ghia. Give me a Mini or VW GTi during the week as a gas miser and this sporty convertible roadster as a weekend cruiser and I'm happy. A used 911 would be ideal however this (in black) has fresh lines and a new warranty.

  6. Actually the mileage on the standard 200hp TT is better than the golf GTI. The TT-S has very slightly worse mileage values, but has ~270bhp and quattro, so this 300bhp model (still same engine block as all these other cars - probably just boosted turbo) is likely to also be very very similar in fuel economy.
