December 31st, 1969 Noble's sports cars are not exactly known for their attractiveness but rather their driving ability, but this reputation may be set to change with the latest details on the upcoming M600 supercar confirming the company is putting some more thought into the aesthetics of its vehicles. We first reported on the development of the M600 a year ago when Noble CEO Peter Boutwood revealed that the car would be getting a Yamaha-designed twin-turbo V8 engine sourced from Volvo, along with a carbon fiber shell, around 600hp (448kW) and a six-speed manual gearbox. Now, Auto Motor und Sport is reporting that power will be closer to 650hp (485kW), which should give the mid-engined supercar a better shot at fulfilling Noble's intention of creating a more affordable version of Ferrari's famous F40. The new M600 should be capable of reaching the 200mph mark when it is finally released in 2010, and with supercar performance and looks the M600 should prove to be a car that brings Noble closer to conventional supercar buyers . As for purists, they shouldn't despair that Noble is finally paying some attention to aesthetics as the company promises the M600 will have minimal driver aids and will very much be a driver's car. Noble plans to build around 50 units of the M600 annually, and there is still no word on whether a left-hand-drive model will be built for the American market - although previous Noble models have been imported in rolling chassis form.Noble M600 supercar spy shots

    A Yamaha designed Volvo engine from a XC90 (with 2 turbochargers bolted on) ?!?!?
    No thank You! Even if they get huge peformance out of it, I can't see it lasting very long.
    The reason it has "minimal invasive" electronics ( what they mean is NO electronics) is because if Noble adds it, it'll will push the price up in line with the big leaguers, and what would you rather have for the same price.
    Nice try Peter! I'm sure it'll be fun to drive for a while but I wouldn't pay money for it..

    elclair; noble is known for making the best out of really ordinary engines. the V6 is probably the same V6 from the mondeo, if i had to guess, considering almost every other engine noble's used in the last 20 years has been from ford. it just so happens that this V8 will come from a more reputable ford brand that uses and even more reputable engine builder.

    I don't know what problems you could possibly see in yamaha or volvo. And correct me if I'm wrong my noble (not being a "prestige brand" and all) generally sells cars that VASTLY outperform anything else for that money, or vastly undercuts anything with similar performance.

    Why assume Yamaha makes bad engines? The are infact some of the best in the industry. Yamaha is one of those companies that on the side does some very unique and specialty consulting work for other manufacutrers.

    The noble and its engine package will once again trounce its rivals.

    Yamaha had a part in the 1st Vette ZR-1, the 32 valve job so this V-8 can't be THAT bad!
