Audi presents second TT clubsport quattro

December 31st, 1969 Audi has revealed an updated version of the open-top TT clubsport quattro at the Wörthersee Tour tuning show in Austria today. The new car was spotted recently by spy photographers and was first seen exactly one year ago at the same tuner show also in concept form. The new version retains the open cockpit and 300hp (220kW) turbocharged 2.0L TFSI of the original concept as well as a new seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox and permanent AWD system. Distinct features of the car are the low ‘chopped’ windshield, almost invisible A-pillars, chunky rollover bars and a new single-frame grill painted in high-gloss black. The front of the car also features new headlamps with a strip of LED daytime running lights and large air inlets covered by horizontally split black grills. The track of the car was widened by 66 millimeters versus the standard TT and the rear bumper is designed as a diffuser and feature two large tailpipes made from stainless steel. The brake package is the same unit from the sporty TTS and consists of 340mm ventilated discs up front and 310mm units in the back. The interior is fitted with a pair of sports bucket seats, a unique high-grip version of Audi’s flat-bottomed steering wheel and aluminum shift paddles. The door pull handle and door opener are also made of aluminum, but are hollow to help save weight. Audi hasn't confirmed production plans but the car is likely to be released as a limited edition model later this year. Audi also used the Wörthersee show to present a new sports concept of the A3 TDI hatch, which you can read about in a previous story by clicking here. 1. you know,.. I really like this car. Its pretty old school,.. with the tiny wind shield,.. reminds me of 50's era lemans racers.

  2. wonder how they'll pass roll over test with windows like that

  3. roll bars behind the head rests. I was thinking the same when the concept came out: one of those "only ever going to be a concept" concepts. so long as those A pillars are rock solid, they should be fine. and with the amount of weight you're saving from not having a roof, something tells me those things are solid steel. (joking)

  4. I wonder what driving a car with no frame above the windshield is like?
I wonder if there's any difference in wind buffeting from a normal convertible. Looks very cool...

  5. That thing is hot, and the interior looks to be amazing, but audi's interiors always have been

  6. Gus- I wonder if Ralph Nader has been reached on this car yet. Talk about limited roll over protection!!!

P.S. the minute these things become available I'll be putting in my order. Sweet looking car!!!!

  7. I'm sure he would have a heart attack.
But, if those A-pillars are strong, and the rollover hoops are high and directly behind my head, then I would trust it...

  8. looks awesome. I love it.
