2009 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 update
December 31st, 1969
The Chevrolet Corvette was given a major overhaul for the 2008 model year, receiving a more powerful LS3 V8 engine, a new exhaust system and improved gearboxes, but for the car’s latest update engineers have kept the changes to a minimum. There will only be a few trim and content updates incorporated on the performance Z06 for the 2009 model year.
These include a set of new ‘spider’ design 10-spoke alloy wheels finished in either silver, gray or chrome. There’s also color-keyed door and instrument panels with red and titanium interiors, a power-operated rear hatch lid fitted as standard, gray stitching for the seats instead of red on the previous model, new door sill plates with the Z06 logo and a premium sound system also fitted as standard.
The Z06 also receives a larger-capacity dry sump oiling system, the same 10L unit from the Corvette ZR1, but output remains at a heady 505hp (377kW).2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZO6

Isn't the Z06 phenomenally good on gas, even given its engine type and size? I've read this -- that the top gearing is insanely tall, giving the vehicle a very decent highway mileage rating that's miles (no pun intended) ahead of the competition's similarly powered vehicles.

You huys spelled it with the letter O, the weird thing being that it is actually a zero (0), but most people call the number by the letter because of how it looks.

that side profile is terrible....sort of an ugly version of a lotus elise/exige

Joe and CarFanaticsUnleashed, thank you for completely ignorant and useless comments! This site would be nothing without people like you. /Sarcasm.
1. The Z06 is rated at 28 MPG highway, giving it better fuel economy than almost any sports car on the market, regardless of engine size or performance. So stick that in your crack pipe and smoke it!
2. If you're obviously such a non-gearhead that you can't appreciate an incredible performing sports car, then why are you even on MotorAuthority? I sincerely hope you don't call yourself an enthusiast, because that would be a farce.
GTFO.
Layne,
I appreciate your valuable critique.
Have you ever driven a Z06? Did you measure the mileage?
EPA estimates are simply too kind...
I suppose your right, and Joe should check his spelling, but you need to get your facts straight. Let's get real here, there's just no need to be so blatently rude.
Calling someone a non-gearhead is a grave and offensive insult. If you really wanted to insult me, I hope you could conjure something a little more fruity than calling my car enthusiasm a "farce".
Please, wake up and smell the tire smoke...
We all love cars, we all have our opinions, and we're all in this car-craze together...
