Cadillac has three major model introductions planned for the next two years with the first new model, the CTS wagon, set to enter production early next year before going on sale in global markets by the end of the first half of the year. The new wagon will be revealed later this year and is designed to compete with premium wagons like BMW’s 3-series Touring and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate range.
The CTS wagon will be followed soon after by a coupe variant of the same car. The new CTS coupe will be heavily based on the concept car revealed at January’s Detroit Auto Show and could be simply called the ‘CT’ coupe when its launched next year.
Prototypes of the new coupe seen testing reveal GM designers are keeping the bold lines of the concept, with the tall rear lights and fastback shape all expected to make production. It’s unclear whether the model will feature any powerful (and thirsty) V8 gasoline engines as GM is looking to dump its luxury V8 program. However, given the popularity of cars like the BMW M3, Cadillac will likely launch a performance CTS-V model with the same supercharged 6.2L engine as the sedan V-Series model.
In 2010, Cadillac will introduce its replacement for its aging SRX. Prototypes of the car have been spotted on both sides of the Atlantic and reveal that Cadillac’s previous Provoq concept car will be the basis of the new model. The new SRX’s running gear will be based on a heavily modified Theta platform with elements from the latest FWD Epsilon II architecture.
The current SRX has been a poor seller for Cadillac, only managing 22,543 sales last year in the U.S. Sources close to the project have revealed to Automotive News that Cadillac is hoping to sell around 70,000 units of the new model and that a hybrid version could eventually be offered to attract more buyers. The SRX is expected to debut with a 300hp (224kW) 3.6L V6 but a smaller 210hp (157kW) 2.8L V6 could be added after the car’s initial launch in early 2010.

woah woah woah.... the THREE series? (emphasis on the 3)... isn't the CTS more like.. 5 series? Is that the market that CTS is going for? people who want a 5 series but can only afford the 3 series?
By RANDY #2, Posted: 6/23/2008
so it is going to compete with the 3 series wagon, and the c class estate, but not the audi avant. Thats not surprising seeing as audi makes the best wagon on the market period, and i dont see cadillac competing with it.

I think audi does design the best looking avant/estate hands down, but audi also puts way more money into research for this segment than mb or bmw. Audi has been been producing s4, rs4, and s6 rs6 avant. Audi’s response to the M5 was the RS6 avant. I feel bmw and Mercedes are less experienced in the estate/avant segment, so that’s why Cadillac is going after them as their competition

All I have to say is bring on the CTS wagon, I can't wait. With the news that the new A4 Avant will only be available with 1 drivetrain option, I'm hoping Cadillac will allow a little more choice for us wagon-faithful here in the US.

Going up against the mb audi and bmw with a coupe is a tough job. The s5, 335 are very good vehicles. As for the avant, audi owns the estate/avant category, and i dont see this vehicle taking away much market share in this segment.
