Rolls Royce builds limited edition 'Peony' Phantom
December 31st, 1969
Due to popular demand, Rolls Royce has commissioned a new special edition Phantom saloon under its official ‘Bespoke Programme’ that has been designed specifically for United Arab Emirates customers. The limited edition model is called the ‘Peony’ and it features a two-tone exterior of Pearl Blue with a contrasting Moonstone Pearl Blue and Seashell interior.
The ‘Peony’ flower design is an ancient oriental motif that represents royalty, wealth and distinction. The motif, in traditional blue and yellow, is used throughout the vehicle, featuring as an exterior logo along with interior wood trim inlay and oriental art door capping. Customised tread plates also include the logo emblazoned with the words “Peony motif, exclusive Bespoke Phantom”. Customers also receive a special perfume developed by Emirati perfume company HIND.
The Middle East has been a major driver of the ‘Rolls-Royce Bespoke Program’ and currently claims the highest volume of requests for the custom cars. The program is a special service that allows customers to change virtually every tactile facet of the car, whether it is a thicker steering wheel or a completely customized cabin.
Working in a closed off area of the Goodwood assembly line, the Bespoke team even go so far as to develop their own paints, materials and mechanical modifications. The mechanical package of the Peony, however, has been left untouched, meaning power comes from the familiar 6.75L V12 engine. Peak output stands at 453hp (338kW) and 530lb-ft (720Nm) of torque.
The Peony now joins the special one-off golden Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe, which was built for an individual, also from the UAE.
