Audi's future powertrain line-up revealed

Audi’s line-up is set to expand in coming years with even more diverse models as the carmaker strives to reach its stated goal of selling more than 1.5 million vehicles by 2015. We’ve already seen the introduction of all new models such as the Q5 SUV, A5 coupe and R8 super-sports car in recent years, but the coming years will be just as busy with the introduction of an A1 minicar, A7 four-door coupe and a new A5 sportback.

Information about the future engine line-up has been revealed, with specific power figures for some of the most important models. The list includes the introduction of the new A1 minicar in December next year, which will be available with a 122hp 1.4L TFSI engine, a 90hp 1.6L TDI, an 86hp 1.2L TFSI, a 143hp 2.0L TDI and a range-topping 170hp 1.4L TFSI with an S tronic dual-clutch transmission.

The new S4 sports sedan will come with Audi’s latest 3.0L TFSI supercharged V6 engine with 333hp and an S tronic dual-clutch. A six-speed manual will also be offered. This same engine will replace the V8 unit in the current S5 by mid-2010, but power will be boosted to 354hp.

The V8 won’t be completely phased out. The 4.2L FSI unit will be reserved for an upcoming RS5 and will develop more than 450hp, reports AutoWeek.

Other vehicles include the new A7 saloon and sportback due in February 2010. The engine line-up will start with a 2.8L TFSI and will include a 300hp 3.0L TFSI, both 2.7L and 3.0L TDIs and a new 4.0L TFSI with 394hp.

The R8 super-sports car, meanwhile, will get a new 525hp V10 FSI in June 2009 and will be followed by a diesel model with a 4.2L V8 TDI – not the long rumoured V12.

  i am also waiting for the R4 but no news of it....the s4 engine and s5 engine sound gud but the thing i am going to start saving for is the RS5.....
