Aston Martin DBS crashed for new James Bond movie

One Aston Martin DBS used for filming in the latest James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace, has already ended up at the bottom of an Italian lake, and now a second car has been crashed into a quarry. Unlike the first incident, which was actually an accident caused by poor weather conditions, the latest crash was scripted as the final climax of the new movie’s car chase.

The simulated crash took place in the mountains of Carrara in Italy and required that the car fly into a marble quarry after being chased by a pair of Alfa Romeos around the banks of Lake Garda. The action scene is expected to form the pre-credits sequence to the movie and will run close to 15 minutes.

The DBS isn’t the only new car to star in the upcoming movie. Ford’s next-generation Ka compact will also appear in the movie. You can catch a glimpse of it in a video posted in a previous story along with a possible rendering of the car, which you can view by clicking here.

Hopefully there's a good reason for the missing door...

Also, unless the Alfa's are of the 8C variety, it will be another example of the movies mismatching cars and having them perform the same. Note to producers an Aston Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini or Ferrari will walk away from most other cars, and if you think a panel van can keep up!...

PJE: a ford transit did the ring in 10:08. and it was a diesel.

but yeah.. i know what you mean.. its all kind of rediculous.. but thats what action movies are.

WHY do they always have to crash the car as the climax of a chase? why cant the car just spin out in a cloud of tire, brake, and clutch smoke?

You know which recent movie had a surprisingly decent car chase? Vantage Point. They didn't use any fancy cars but the shots gave you a real sense of the action. Ronin still remains my favorite car chase movie though.

Chris - I have emailed you but perhaps it got caught by the mail filter. Can you email me directly at sid{{{@}}}motorauthority.com

Ronin is still the king. Kind of how the shootout in Heat will always be the best.

But blasting a car to pieces is all part of the shock factor! Can't wait to see the new Bond movie, I really liked the last one.
