By Yahoo:Anna at Yahoo!Answers.com

They sure look nice, but I keep hearing that underneath it all they are just junk. I also heard they are known for transmission problems. Any truth to this? Read More

  • It depends on the Dodge/Chrysler you're talking about. For current rides: The Avengers and Sebrings are very poor. The Caliber not so good. The charger and 300C were great, but have fallen to midpack. Challenger, looks great, runs great - but is not competitive... Read More
  • it's just like any other manufacturer. There's good and bad. I worked on my grandma's Sebring convertible, and I wouldn't have it if you threw me the keys. On the other hand, my old Ram was as tough and reliable as anything else on the road... Read More

Why should I also consider these?

The Nissan Leaf costs several thousand dollars more than the 2012 Mitsubishi i, but a certain type of buyer—especially one who commutes on wide suburban boulevards, or LA-style freeways—is going to appreciate the Leaf's stronger highway response, as well as its wider stance, which helps it fit in a bit better on U.S.

streets highways.

The two models aren't all that different for driving range, but the Leaf's additional ten miles or so might add some peace of mind for longer-distance commuters.

Based on early experience with prototype versions of the upcoming 2012 Tesla Model S, we anticipate this significantly more expensive luxury sedan to be better performing, as well as more refined, than either of those affordable alternatives—including an available range of up to 300 miles.

Finally, an all-electric version of the Ford Focus is anticipated in the first half of calendar-year 2013; this new vehicle will offer the same packaging as other Focus models (minus some cargo versatility), with a range approaching that of the Leaf.

2012 Nissan Leaf
The 2012 Nissan Leaf is, quite simply, the first battery electric vehicle built in volume by any major carmaker; if you can get comfortable with its range of 70 to 100 miles, it's the greenest car you can buy.

2012 Tesla Model S
If Tesla Motors’ promises—and government funding—come through, the Model S sedan stands poised to meld sports sedan driving, comfort and utility, and zero-emissions in one revolutionary package.
