The biggest single feature for the 2009 model year Mustang is the availability of three choices for the roof - standard metal coupe, convertible, or a panoramic glass roof, which has been expected since late 2007. The glass roof model shares the same basic structure as the coupe, and maintains most of its stiffness as well.
In addition to the new glass-roof option, the 2009 Mustang will also come with some added extras in its "Premium" trim, including SIRIUS satellite radio, ambient lighting, a satin aluminum instrument panel and an upgraded interior. The new GT Security Package consists of an anti-theft system and a wheel-locking kit.
The Mustang Bullitt will be returning for 2009, with an extended run of 3000. Previously Ford had said the 2008 Bullitt would be limited to a run of 7,700 units but customer demand has forced Ford to increase production. The 2009 Mustang Bullitt is powered by a 4.6-liter V-8 with 315hp and 325lb-ft of torque. Both the engine and suspension are modified with Ford Racing Technology to make it a keener sounding and handling beast than its other stablemates. Key exterior features include the traditional Highland Green color, 18-inch Bullit wheels, 3.5-inch exhaust tips, unique badging and gray-painted brake calipers. Inside, Shelby GT500-style seats and steering wheel, Bullit logos and gun sight graphics ensure the cabin offers a different feel to the standard 'Stang.
The 'Warriors in Pink' package will also be returning. Designed to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure - $500 from each 'Warrior in Pink' Mustang sold goes to the cause.
Available on the Mustang V-6 "Premium" coupe and convertible models, the "Warriors in Pink" package adds a pink ribbon and pony fender badge, pink Mustang rocker tape striping, charcoal leather trimmed seats with pink stitching, an aluminum-spoke steering wheel with pink stitching and charcoal floormats with pink ribbon and contrast stitching. Three body colors will be available: black, metallic silver and performance white.
Most of the rest of the Mustang line's features and options carry over from 2008, including the standard car's 210hp (156kW), 4.0L SOHC V6 engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed automatic and the GT model's 300hp (224kW), 4.6L V8 engine with a standard five-speed manual and available five-speed automatic.

Lame, ditch the pathetic V6 in favor of the 3.5 or 3.7 liter V6, and stroke the 4.6 liter V8 out to 5 liters and revive the 302 Mustang.

NoName dont be lame, because you should know that in about 18months Ford will have a lighter restyled Pony to compete with the 2K 10 Camaro. If you can say Eco-Boost and 5.O then you can also say 350-450hp. With the Blue Ovals revenues in the dumpster this year, give them credit for letting the economies of scale to work with the tried and trued 4.0 I6 and the venerable 4.6 V8..

World is correct. Why change over this car for the new motors when the new car is coming out in another model year?
I have the GT with 300hp and, more importantly, 320 torques. Even with the automatic it will leave long stripes wherever I want, and gets 24mpg at 70mph with the A/C on. So, it's a good motor, in my opinion.
I look forward to the eco-boost motors, but I like my big V8.

Noname: call the 4L pathetic but it's got big torque. and in the end, that's what you want from a pony car. there's a lot of people out there who think ford will actually piss some enthousiasts off if they replace the 4L with the 3.5L the 4L has much lower peak torque, where the 3.5L has appreciable torque up in the 2500-3500 rpm range. it was never intended as a muscular engine, and the 4L is much more "fun" in that regard. and cheaper as well.

Just got my new 09 GT! Traded an 06 V6....and not because she was weak under the hood at all. I wanted MORE MUSTANG!
When I compare notes, my ol' 2006 had alot of snot....but her replacement wins at the line hands down. Then again I am a Mustang Man, who would never drive anything Jap.
